Congratulations to Springfield for clinching first place in the regular season with two weeks to go.Although Springfield has a wide lead in first place at 15-5, this record is due in much part to Springfield's ability to win close games. In recent years the playoffs have been very competitive and in 2008, the last place team, New Haven, won the league title. This year's playoffs should be very competitive again.Although Springfield has clinched first place, the other teams are very close. Remember that the higher seed gets to be home team in all games, so there is still a lot to play for. Also, I hope that players continue to show up for games this week in New London and August 2 in Springfield. It is important that each team fulfill its committment to field a team every week. Besides the cammarderie, our wonderful sponsors deserve no less the strong representation from all teams.
Regarding the gay softball world series in Milwaukee, we can still have people put on the rosters of both the C and D teams through next week's games in New London. Sam must file the GSWS rosters no later than August 1.
